It’s a great spot for swimming (for both you and your pup!) and for a long walk along the stunning beachfront.
2. Tallow Beach
Suffolk Park
Tallow Beach is a dog beach with a long stretch of soft sand back of Suffolk Park, only a few minutes drive from Byron Bay. It never gets too crowded but you are always very likely to meet other dogs to play with it. Or simply just enjoy the walk, maybe with a ball or frisbee to play with. Ocean views are simply stunning and although the action of Byron Bay is only a few minutes drive away, Tallow Beach offers peace and quiet. A little escape for both you and your pooch!
3. Seven Mile Beach
Lennox Head
Seven Mile Beach is a pristine stretch of sandy beach from the Lennox Point headland with the national surfing reserve including the famous right hand surf break – one of the top ten breaks in Australia, then to the north, Seven Mile Beach is an iconic beach and mecca for surfers, swimmers, fishermen and beach lovers. 7. Pickled Pig Brewery
18 Industry Drive, Tweed Head South
This dog friendly brewery handcraft a premium selection of lagers, ales, pilsners and dark beers, as well as their popular alcoholic Jinja Beer, using the finest malts, hops and grains available. All their products are as organic as possible and have no preservatives or chemicals, plus they’re vegan friendly. Dogs are allowed to join owners inside the Cellar Door and outside the brewery but must be kept on a lead.

Situated right on the river and in the centre of town, The Wharf Bar & Restaurant takes advantage of the stunning Richmond River backdrop with its open plan dining area. Located on Shaws Bay in East Ballina, the great location of this dog friendly pub provides patrons and pups with a serene and picturesque view for dining and drinking. The Shaws Bay Hotel welcomes dogs in the outdoor area where there is rain/sun cover and water bowls available for thirsty pups.

10. Folk Cafe

The team behind Folk are all about good food, lush atmosphere, community & swinging tunes. All their products are made in house with a commitment to vegetarian & plant based eating. They love when dogs visit with owners – they even have a dog wall of photos! Grab a seat outside under one of the umbrellas with your pup and enjoy the relaxed Byron atmosphere while you munch on one of their famous Nourish Bowls or Vegan Burrito.
11. Bayleaf Cafe

Bayleaf Cafe is one of Byron Bay’s favourite breakfast and lunch hot spots. Always bustling with locals and visitors, the cafe prides itself on its innovative menu, unique drinks, banging playlists and friendly staff. They also love it when you bring your canine pals along for a visit too! Pups can sit with guests at the outdoor tables, there they can keep cool under the umbrellas and the friendly staff will ensure water is always available.

The Farm is principally a working farm that houses a collection of micro-businesses. Bring your pup and explore the gardens, cafe and meet the local animals. The Farm is dog friendly and their only request is that you keep your four-legged-friend on a lead at all times when walking around The Farm. Dogs can not be taken to indoor areas of the restaurant, however there are seating areas outside.
13. Ballina Gallery Cafe
46 Cherry Street, Ballina
Nestled in amongst 2 beautiful Norfolk Pine trees and gardens, Ballina Gallery Cafe proudly uses fresh local produce where possible and has a delightful breakfast and lunch menu. Sit in the peaceful outdoor space with your fur baby and enjoy the serene surrounds. There are plenty of tables with umbrella sun/shade cover and the staff are quick to bring out water for your pup. Whilst you’re there, take a look over the local artworks inside.
14. Penny Lane Lennox

This cosy cafe in Lennox Head offers European influenced modern cuisine made from fresh, local produce, as well as great coffee. They have dog friendly seating outside where there is shade and the staff will bring over a water bowl. It’s a popular spot so they recommend calling ahead to reserve a table.

Feast with your pooch at this canine friendly diner with its very own doggy menu. ‘Menu di cane’ is offered alongside traditional Italian meals at The Italian Diner on Byron Street. Catering for small, medium and large dogs, items on the doggy menu include lamb shank bones, kangaroo tail, pig ears and chicken breast fillets, with all the doggy meals served outside of the venue, with a bowl of water.
