The adult lounge is bathed in sunlight and has space to relax, no matter what the weather is doing. Catch up on the latest movies with Foxtel and Netflix or enjoy the view out to the garden. Bass Vista | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

We LOVE the location for its quiet solitude and our most favourite thing to do is to sit on the balcony and take in the most magnificent 180 degree views of the waters of Bass Strait and Gunnamatta Beach while sipping on a cocktail. Our children love the garden and its huge trampoline where they can play in the secure fenced garden.  They flit in and out of their own lounge downstairs and watch some TV when they want to mix things up. There are so many places to walk and wonder at the native flora and fauna (walk the Bushrangers Bay track in the late afternoon for an encounter with a Kangaroo as they leap from the lower ground to the upper right across your path). From the Cape Schanck lighthouse car park, there is a network of scenic walks and 200 metres east of Cape Schanck is the lookout...

Shoreline Hideaway | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

We are always looking for a cute little dog friendly cottage/studio that we can get away to as a couple with our doggie in tow. But we have also stayed here with two kids who slept on the sofa bed.  It’s the perfect spot as it is right on the beach. We walk across the road to the white Sandy beaches of Capel Sound and spend all our summer days swimming and sunbaking. If we are feeling energetic we take the Bay Trail walk in either direction and end up at either Rye or Rosebud.  In the summer the funfair is on to entertain the kids in one location and the circus in the other. Perfect. Our favourite spot for coffee and breakfast is only a 7-minute walk away at The Kitchen and for something special we always choose Veraison Restaurant which is only a 5-minute walk. At Capel Sound,...

The Portsea Hideaway | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

This pet & dog friendly Portsea beach house accommodation is so unassuming from the outside, with its impressive front door being the only hint at a house from the road.  But it is so close to everything you need for a beach holiday. The pounding ocean beaches are within walking distance but take care to swim between the flags at all times. We love being in the house as it wraps around a central courtyard, and the focus is a heated in-ground pool where we can’t get the kids to leave no matter what we offer.  We cook up a BBQ and laze in the outdoor lounge, creating our very own poolside piazza. It’s so cool in summer and cosy warm in winter. We hardly use our car, we walk the short distance to the newly renovated Portsea Hotel for stunning food and great views and a perfect holiday vibe. We grab...

Sandals Beachhouse | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

It’s a little dog friendly retreat away from the world.  We love that this pet friendly accommodation sits up high and is nestled behind bushes so we feel really cosy and private. We love the outdoor dining deck.  The kids play on the grass with the dog (they keep an eye on him as the garden isn’t fully fenced), and we cook up a storm on the BBQ. We love walking and the  1.4km to the beautiful shallow waters of the beaches of Blairgowrie and Rye isn’t a problem for us especially in summer when its difficult to find a park close to the beach. Our kids are little and they love the cubby house at the front of the property, it keeps them entertained for hours. At night (in winter) we all sit in front of a roaring fire and play board games but in summer it’s a beach...

Sandy Shores | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

It’s our perfect pet & dog friendly beach house on the Mornington Peninsula.   Being so close to the beach you can hear the waves breaking at night and smell the sea air on the deck in summer. You will need to walk up a number of steps to the front entrance (it’s not for the faint-hearted or infirm!) as the house is situated high on a sand dune. We love that there are so many spaces in this house for our group to not feel confined.  Some choose to head to the front garden and light a fire in the firepit, sit around and chat under the gazebo. Others swim and lounge around the sparkling pool (solar heated) or play a game of pool in the lower lounge. We choose drinks on the lower deck sitting on bar stools at a high table. It’s our location for evening cocktails, but...

Tahiti Palms | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

This pet & dog friendly accommodation feels like a true beach ‘shack’ with large windows facing north and a deck to hang out on. Its quiet and peaceful at the end of a court but we close your eyes and it feels like the beach could be right in front of us.  Our kids play on the grass securely at the rear or we keep your eye on them in the front garden while they play in the court. We love walking and the 700m to the beautiful shallow waters of the beaches of Blairgowrie and Rye isn’t a problem for us especially in summer when its difficult to find a park close to the beach. We love the light white bright interiors and love lounging in bed in the morning with a cuppa and looking out through the large glass sliding doors.  In summer we open the whole house...

The Verandah | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

When we enter the driveway of this stunning dog friendly accommodation and close the gates behind us, we feel like we have escaped to the country. In fact the gardens were originally developed many years ago by the Italian family owners, who planted all the fruit trees and today the large garden with canopied Sweet Almond tree and fire pit location is perfect for hot sunny days in the shade or cold winter nights under the stars, toasting marshmallows on the fire. We live on The Verandah as that Italian family would have done years ago.  Now there is a cosy lounge, festoon lighting and large dining bench for sharing lovely meals and enjoying life with family and friends. So nothing much has changed. We love the cottage feel inside with its log fire and open plan living space with bedrooms and bathrooms on either side. The kids run to the...

Ocean Tide | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

When was the last time you slept in a hammock?  If you’ve ever fallen into a hammock and found yourself drifting into a deep, relaxing sleep, just like us you will love the relaxed outdoor areas at Ocean Tide a beautiful pet & dog friendly Rye Beach House. Relaxation is the name of the game when we are on holiday and what could be more relaxing than a safe outdoor garden for our kids to play and the family pooch to run around. We love the great facilities especially the fully air-conditioned rooms and great spaces for two families to enjoy. It’s the perfect spot to walk (8 minutes) to the hidden treasure cafe the Peninsula Pantry for breakfast or lunch and gourmet offerings you can pick up for dinner.  Bonus, they welcome thirsty four-legged friends outside with a water bowl.  For a little tipple of something local try out the Penni...

Mount Martha Retreat | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

The sound of the birdlife surrounds you and native birds perch on the deck and eat out of our hand if we invite them to.  We love the pet & dog friendly accommodation in Mount Marthat for it's native bush surrounding the house.  Set high on a ridge with glimpses of the ocean through the trees, it’s only a stone’s throw from Mount Martha golf course (golf anyone?). Decorated with artefacts from Melanesia it is a fascinating interior, not to mention the interesting book collection where we spend hours browsing and reading. We love a holiday to have that effortless living of indoor-outdoor. Just like a resort, there are bi-fold doors that make the upper lounge and deck one complete room.  So in summer, the kids love the pool area and as they play all day, while we lounge on the deck with a drink in hand and watch from a distance. For adventure,...

Nelson By The Sea | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Looking for a pet & dog friendly beach holiday house with white weatherboards, porthole style windows and timber boardwalks.  NELSON BY THE SEA might be the pawfect place for you. Tucked away in a quiet pocket close to Sorrento and the beach it was an easy 15-minute walk to the Sorrento Sailing Club and a little longer to walk into Sorento townships itself. We stayed with extended family and teenage kids.  there was space for everyone inside this contemporary house with its high cathedral ceilings, wooden floorboards and contrasting beams. The grandparents sat and read outside, the kids played billiards downstairs and watched movies but everyone came together on the huge deck with hydrotherapy spa.  There is a beautiful Peppercorn Tree in the garden and the grassed lawn was perfect for a bit of backyard cricket and safe for our pooch. We took a short walk to the private (shared) tennis court close...

Whitewood Cottage | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Whitewood Cottage is such a cosy little pet & dog friendly accommodation with a wonderful private heated spa.  A place for incurable romantics to immerse themselves in the hot water spa.  After a relaxing dip in the spa, we warm ourselves in front of the huge fire pit in the evening watching the stars in the night sky. We love the landscaped garden with indigenous native plants that surrounds the central fire pit.  Our whole family always makes use of the undercover area walled on one side with citrus trees with dining table, extra seating and bbq. In the mornings we eat breakfast on the side deck attached to the house.  We love that it is family friendly with games, toys, Foxtel and table tennis. We love to walk to the end of the road and take the pathway to the Coastal Walking Track of the Point Nepean National Park...

Shore Line | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Our first search when looking for a dog friendly holiday house is “water view”. So we love that this pet friendly accommodation is positioned right on the ocean. In summer we simply walk across the road to the beautiful beach with shallow blue water and white, white sand.  It’s perfect for our kids to play safely all day long. In winter we take walks along the beach when the sea takes on a wilder appearance and Paddington our four-legged friend is allowed to walk and run. The house is a townhouse and was great for our family and we shared with another family.  There is a small cottage at the rear of the property that is completely separate and you can book it with the house or it is available to other guests.  So you need to leave the driveway clear but other than that everyone has their own private...

Shoreline and Hideaway | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

What we need when we have a large group of family and friends with pups gathering together is a dog friendly group accommodation with space. The house is a townhouse combined with the Hideaway, (which is a separate cottage at the rear) is perfect when we have a large group of family and friends want to getaway together. The foreshore on this part of the Mornington Peninsula has the best beaches and we walk in either direction and take in the spectacular views of Port Phillip Bay along the Bay Trail. Sitting...

Bay Lyf | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Remember those old school type summer holidays that included backyard cricket and long days on the beach. Bay Lyf reminds us of better days, simpler days when things were less complicated. We adore the original beach house with its maze of rooms but the interiors are so up to date and oozing layers of style. We walk across the road to the white Sandy beaches of Rye and Tootgarook and spend all our summer days swimming and sunbaking. If we are feeling energetic we take the Bay Trail walk in either direction and end up at either Rye or Rosebud.  In the summer the funfair is on to entertain the kids in one location and the circus in the other. Perfect. Our favorite spot for coffee and breakfast is only a 2-minute walk away at The Kitchen and for something special we always choose Veraison Restaurant which is only a...

Glen Mor | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Pet & dog friendly accommodation with everything you want a beach house to be. From the original aqua front door with porthole style window, GLEN MOR is a resort-style dog friendly holiday house that captivates us as soon as we walk in. We stay here because we love to bring friends and family together where everyone gets a bit of luxury.  Each of the double rooms has beautiful linen and a SMART TV and air conditioning which makes it feel like a hotel. We congregate in the open plan living and kitchen with doors opening to the sunny deck and sparkling swimming pool.  We take a sunlounger, grab a book and a hat and never want to move. The kids love the dedicated pool room with their own bar fridge and lounge, they hang out all day or they walk the few hundred metres to the bayside beach.   This stunning...

Highview | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Who doesn’t love a room with a view! We loved this pet & dog friendly accommodation as soon as we walked in the door.  The kids immediately hunkered down in the tiny games room which is made up of a cushioned area to play computer games and watch TV. While we set ourselves up on the large deck overlooking the garden and the Mornington Peninsula surrounds.  This sunny spot is perfect for much of the day with a coffee and a good book.  In the evening everyone congregated around the BBQ and outdoor dining table for dinner and then the kids would play in the garden room while we lit the fire pit and drank wine and toasted marshmallows for dessert. It’s a 1.3km walk to The Hidden Kitchen for breakfast or lunch or to pick up some gourmet supplies for dinner. Make your stay a complete relaxation weekend by...

Joie de Vivre | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

It’s our dream to escape to the country.  Even if it is only for a weekend! This pet & dog friendly accommodation is our dream escape to your own little piece of paradise with picturesque 10-acre views in Red Hill, in the heart of the peninsula’s wine region. When we drive down the quiet country lane with the tree-lined driveway we know we have the most relaxing weekend waiting for us.  As interiors addicts, we feel like we have walked into a magazine cover.  What to look at first?  The marvellous french inspired cast iron fireplace or the facing chesterfield sofas or the view in the background. We really never want to leave, we walk the dog in the grounds and sit on the jetty in the dam and ponder the meaning of life while watching the fishes swim by.  The kids are completely engrossed in the playground, tennis court or...

Jack Street | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Luxury pet & dog friendly accommodation tucked away at the end of St Andrews Beach.  This is a wonderfully quiet beach house where we find quiet and seclusion from our busy world.  It has the most marvelous vistas of the surrounding golf course and glimpses of Cape Schanck. Upstairs is our favourite spot.  In winter we curl up in front of the fire.  But in summer reading on the deck and entertaining with friends and family makes up our beach days.  Our children are always entertained in their own space with table tennis competitions and a place to lounge with friends. It’s only a short distance to St Andrews Ocean Beach.  The sweeping views along the rugged coast inspire us to surrender from the busyness of life. Even with the dramatic roaring ocean, there is a stillness to this area that really recharges your batteries.  Our daily walks take us...

The Marbray | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Beautifully styled dog friendly accommodation in a quiet pocket of Sorrento and we can walk to the Sullivan Bay in 15 minutes where we can sunbake and swim in the shallow safe waters. We love properties that reflect their surroundings and the coastal interiors make this a perfect beach house for all the family. We walk Paddington (our pooch) to the Koonya Dog Beach which only takes about 20 minutes and he loves the shallow waters that go out for miles. The front entertaining deck is canopied by trees keeping us cool in the summer and its a wonderful spot to sit with a drink on a summers night. Bring your own tennis raquets and balls and walk to the hidden treasure that is the tennis court (communal and free) at Tuckey Track Reserve.  Put your name down in the book (but usually there is no wait list), it is even pet friendly...

Warrawee | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

It’s truly everything we want in a pet / dog friendly beach house. It is our go-to for a holiday with friends or our family of teenage children and dog in tow. The dog loves the winding path around the tennis court set on an acre of native gardens but he barks and runs around the tennis court when we play wanting to be involved. The rear garden is where we relax in the 10 people swim spa, always with a glass of wine in hand listening to the rustle of the trees and the possums overhead or just looking up to the night sky.  So peaceful, so relaxing. And it’s perfect inside too, with four good sized bedrooms set up in two wings, everyone comes together in the central living and dining space to watch movies or relax in front of the huge fire in winter. As it’s so...

Its the perfect beach shack where two families can join together for a super affordable holiday at the beach.  Sounds of dogs and kids playing on the lawn and adults drinking wine on the deck and cooking up a storm on the BBQ. Its a place where families and friends can come together and reconnect. The Turnberry | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

We love ourselves some exclusivity and as Moonah Links is considered one of Australia’s most unique resorts combining two 18 hole championship golf courses, a la carte restaurant and cafe and onsite day spa and a shuttle service to the nearby Peninsula Hot Springs, we are in resort heaven. The pet & dog friendly house is in a private gated area so it feels really exclusive before you even arrive. We love that we can walk to the clubhouse and all the facilities and even though it’s a golfers dream, our kids and the adults alike love the area. There are so many favourite areas in this house.  We love sitting in front of the fire and chatting while our host cooks dinner! or drinks on the front deck or the rear lounge on the back deck (too many choices). The absolute favourite is the master bedroom, which is vast and...

Happy Valley | Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Happiness is a holiday by the beach.  Simply pulling into the driveway of pet & dog friendly accommodation at HAPPY VALLEY puts a smile on our faces.  We love a weatherboard and this one is as cute as a button.  It has topiary bushes at the entrance and its wide front verandah is where we sit on a summer night. We bring our family and our four-legged friends for an escape from the busyness of city life. Pushing back the large bifold doors it allows us to extend the outdoors in with an inbuilt BBQ opposite the dining, it seems to make this cottage twice the size. The kids run and play on the lawn with the dog (although he has his own kennel to escape them) and they spend the day digging in the sandpit or bouncing on the inbuilt trampoline. We walk 15 minutes to Captains of Rye and...
