Picnic Beach | 24h Dog Friendly Beach
THE EXPERIENCE
Picnic Beach is a 7 km long dog friendly beach that begins of the south side of Point Drummond as a south facing partially protected white sand beach, then curves round to faces southwest and finally west and it runs down to link with the northern most Convention beach. There is vehicle access via Point Drummond to a car park in lee on the northern end of the beach, where waves are generally less than1m in height. However south of the car park wave height rapidly increases and a 300 m wide rip dominated surf zone, can contain up to 20 rip in the inner surf zone, with larger rips in the outer surf zone. Generally active sand dunes up to 2 km wide back the entire beach, with farmland further inland, and 160 m high Mount Drummond in the south.
