Canberra is a very dog friendly city with a rich heritage. It is known for celebrating its history, from First Nations to contemporary times, with exquisite taste. Culture manifests in the form of art, food, wine and architecture, surrounded by breathtaking nature. 1. Canberra Dog Walks

Canberra

Canberra Dog Walks leads social group walks every week for dogs and their humans. Walks are scheduled all over Canberra and generally follow routes included in their self-guided walks.

All human walkers are welcome, with or without dogs. The walks are ran on a not-for-profit basis for $6.20 per human adult. Children and dogs walk free. Payment is collected by the guide with a card reader at the beginning of the walk.

2. Floriade Festival

Commonwealth Park

The annual flower festival includes a Dog’s Day Out in their program, a special day when visitors can bring their pups along. It is held on the final day of the festival. 

3. GoBoats

Trevillan Quay, Kingston

Take a private picnic boat along Lake Burley Griffin with the entire family, including your pup. While it’s not a legal requirement, they do have complimentary dog life jackets available. 

4. Canberra Indoor Rock Climbing

Mitchell & Hume

Well behaved pups are welcome at both rock climbing gyms. You can bring a dog bed and set up a little space for them to receive pats and admiration while you climb. There’s even some places in the gym where dog leads can be tied.

6. Capital Brewing Co

Dairy Road, Fyshwick

Entirely dog friendly brewery. Pups are welcome in the covered courtyard as well as inside. The dog friendly beer garden out the front has an accessible tap, and several dog bowls located around the venue are available. Hopefully you’re lucky enough to visit on the rare occasion when they prepare a special dog beer, or give away doggy treats. 

7. Siren Bar and Restaurant 

Gozzard Street, Gungahlin

Dog friendly cafe with plenty of room outside on the front and side deck for pups. They serve modern Australian cuisine, a special wine list and a diverse cocktail menu. 

8. Assembly

Lonsdale Street, Braddon

A modern pub with a dog friendly beer garden and covered front terrace where you can enjoy delicious food all day long in the company of your pup. 

9. Bentspoke Brewing Co

Mort Street, Braddon

Independent craft brewery, born and brewed in Canberra. They are extremely fond of furry friends and have a dog friendly beer garden, 100% covered and protected from the elements. Their staff will bring out a dog bowl upon arrival.

10. The Tipsy Bull

Lonsdale Street, Braddon

Enjoy friendly, laid back fine dining and over 300 gins in this dog friendly share plate restaurant and bar. Well behaved pups are welcome in their undercover areas.

Street Asian flavours with rebellious energy. They have a dog friendly outdoor deck out the front, covered with umbrellas.

Very dog-friendly and have a designated area, with powerful patio heaters and wind-shields for you to sit with your furry friend

This dog friendly pub in Lyneham features three outdoor beer gardens where four legged friends are welcome to join owners for a drink or two. Water bowls and shaded areas are readily available and don’t forget to say hi to the on-site pup!

If you’re with friends, stop in for a Burger High Tea – you won’t be disappointed. Your four legged friends are also welcome to join you in the outdoor seating area and the friendly staff will happily accommodate their water needs.

To All My Friends is a bar at Cook and is a great place for pizza, beer and good times. There is a large outdoor seating area with shelter so your canine companion is more than welcome to join you for a bite to ear, a few drinks and some live music entertainment.

17. Murrumbateman Winery

Murrumbateman

Dog friendly winery with a grassed area and a large marquee covered terrace, where humans can sit, enjoy the view and taste some award winning wines in the company of their pups. Their dog Mollie, who has her own label, hosts meet and greets, Christmas parties as well as doggy parties to raise funds for the RSPCA. 

18. Lerida Estate

Super dog friendly winery, open 7 days a week for lunch and wine tasting. They have a lovely courtyard with umbrellas for shade. 

19. Shaw Vineyard

Murrumbateman

For a paw-fect day out, venture to Shaw Vineyard and sit outdoors on the fully covered verandah with a glass of wine and enjoy the vineyard views with your pup by your side. There is plenty of space for your pooch to explore and the super friendly staff will make sure dogs are welcomed and looked after, winery dog Indie may even say hello!

20. Surveyor’s Hill Vineyard

Wallaroo

The historic homestead and winery is the perfect place for you and your four legged friend to explore on the weekend. As long as your pup is kept on a leash, you are welcome to wander the yard and kitchen gardens . There are a number of dog-friendly tables available on the decks out the front and back of the bistro and wine tasting building.

21. Local Press Cafe

Eastlake Parade, Kinston

Situated on the lake in the Kingston Foreshore, this cafe features wholefoods that are unrefined, unprocessed and free of unnecessary additives and preservatives. They are dog friendly but it is often hard to secure a spot. 

22. The Cupping Room

University Avenue, Canberra

Dog friendly concept cafe with a covered outdoor area for pups. They even have an instagram account dedicated to all the doggos that visit, and they celebrate the yearly National Dogs Day weekend.

23. On the Grind 

Jenke Cct, Kambah

Nice and relaxed cafe with a doggie menu. You can even order dog treats made by local Canberra raw dog food company Chefs and Dogs, via the online platform Hey You. At their cafe, they have a dog friendly outside space with awning coverage. 

24. Gang Gang Cafe

Frencham Place, Downer

Food, drinks, music and pups in this dog friendly cafe, with a covered outside area where you can relax after a visit to the dog friendly oval across the street. They sell Puppuccinos.

Great coffee and delicious food at this dog friendly cafe with heaps of undercover tables outside.

26. Stella’s by the Lake

Beissel Street, Belconnen

Relaxed dog friendly cafe right across from Lake Ginninderra, with partly covered outdoor seating and extra umbrellas during the summer. They serve hearty and health conscious meals for humans and a little pup menu for your pooch, which includes the popular peanut butter bacon donuts, puppaccinos, and peanut butter bones/paws. They have plenty of dog bowls, grass mats and doggy bags. 

27. Hello Cafe

Blamey Place, Campbell

Coffee Oasis in Campbell. Enjoy a delicious meal and drink in their comfortable dog friendly cafe with many regular furry visitors. They provide water and a covered seating, plus umbrellas during the warmer period.

28. Beess and Co

Bentham Street, Yarralumla

Dog friendly cafe situated in Yarralumla. A nice place to stop on the way to the dog park, sheltered by a large tree that stands out in their outside dining area. During the winter they have outdoor heaters, and your pooch can get water or a puppuccino. 

29. The Knox

Watson Place, Watson

Local hub for families, friends and pups to relax in their dog friendly, partly covered outside area. Sustainable and environmentally friendly business focused on supporting local suppliers. 

30. Bittersweet

Green Square, Kingston

Bittersweet has plenty of outdoor tables (with some market umbrellas to give you some shade) and very friendly dog-loving staff. Open for coffee, breakfast and lunch 7 days a week.
